CCTV Installation

Good CCTV does two things. It puts people off causing trouble in the first place, and when something does happen, it gives you footage clear enough to act on. Too many systems manage neither: cameras pointing at the wrong spot, images too grainy to identify anyone, or recordings that were overwritten days before anyone looked.

Designed around what you need to see

Before recommending a single camera, we walk the site with you and agree the purpose of each view:

  • Detect: spot that someone is there, for example across a yard or car park at night
  • Recognise: tell whether it's someone you know, such as at a staff entrance
  • Identify: capture a face or number plate clearly enough to use as evidence, typically at entrances, tills and gates

Each of those needs a different camera, lens and position. Getting this right at the design stage is what separates useful footage from hours of blurred video.

Cameras and recording

We install HD IP camera systems from established manufacturers, with options including:

  • Fixed and varifocal dome and bullet cameras for internal and external use
  • Low-light and infrared cameras for car parks, yards and perimeters
  • Wide-angle and multi-sensor cameras to cover large open areas with fewer units
  • Network video recorders sized for the number of cameras and the retention period you need
  • Remote viewing on phone, tablet or PC, with user access set by role

Where your site already has network cabling, we can often use it. Where it doesn't, we install the cabling and power ourselves, so there's no need to bring in a separate electrician.

CCTV and data protection

If your cameras capture people, the footage is personal data under UK GDPR, and the ICO expects businesses to use CCTV responsibly. In practice, that means:

  • A clear reason for each camera, and positions that avoid neighbouring properties or private spaces
  • Signs telling people CCTV is in use and who operates it
  • A retention period that's no longer than you need, with footage deleted automatically afterwards
  • Access to recordings limited to the people who need it
  • A process for handling requests from people who ask to see footage of themselves

We'll set the system up to support those requirements, including retention settings and user permissions, so you aren't left to work it out after handover.

For managing agents and residential blocks

CCTV in communal areas can reduce antisocial behaviour, fly-tipping and bike thefts. It also raises questions from residents about privacy. We'll help you position cameras to cover entrances, bin stores and car parks without overlooking flats, and the system can work alongside access control and door entry at the main entrance.

  • Cabling, power and installation by NICEIC-approved electricians, all under one contract
