Commercial LED Lighting Upgrades
Lighting runs for most of the working day in most commercial buildings, and much of it is still fluorescent, halogen or high-pressure sodium. Those fittings use more energy, need more frequent lamp changes and, in many cases, are getting harder to source parts for.
Better light, lower running costs
ICE Electrical replaces older lighting with LED across offices, retail units, schools, car parks and communal areas, designed to the right light levels for each space and paired with controls that stop lights burning in empty rooms.

Our led lighting upgrades treatment process
Step 1 Contact
Book a lighting survey or call 03335775805. Tell us which areas you want upgraded, how each one is used and when it's occupied.
Step 2 The Quote
We survey the existing fittings, controls and circuits, then send a fixed proposal covering new lighting, controls and any emergency lighting changes.
Step 3 The Works
Engineers install the new fittings and controls zone by zone, often out of hours, so each area is back in use before the next working day.
Step 4 After care
You receive a certificate for the work, test results, emergency lighting certification where changed, and confirmation that old lamps were disposed of correctly.

More than swapping the fittings
A good LED upgrade starts with how the space is used, not with a catalogue. We look at:
- Light levels. Each area is designed to the levels recommended in CIBSE and Society of Light and Lighting guidance for its use. An open-plan office, a stockroom and a corridor need very different amounts of light.
- Glare and comfort. Fittings are chosen to reduce glare on screens and give comfortable, even light for the people working under it.
- Existing circuits. We check the condition of the wiring and controls before reusing them, so new fittings aren't installed on tired circuits.
- Ceiling types. Grid, plasterboard and exposed soffits each need different fittings and fixing methods.
Lighting controls that do the work
The biggest savings often come from controls rather than the lamps themselves.
- Presence and absence detection switches lights off automatically in meeting rooms, toilets, stores and stairwells when no one's there.
- Daylight dimming lowers output near windows when there's enough natural light.
- DALI and other addressable systems let you group, dim and schedule lighting across a floor or building, and change settings as layouts change.
- Time scheduling for external, car park and signage lighting.
Emergency lighting, upgraded at the same time
An LED upgrade is the ideal time to review emergency lighting. Many sites switch to LED emergency fittings or self-test systems as part of the same project, which cuts down the manual testing you need to arrange each month. We'll make sure coverage still meets BS 5266-1 after the layout changes. Emergency lighting
Installed without closing you down
We plan upgrades zone by zone, often in the evenings or at weekends, so each area is back in use before the next working day. In retail and hospitality, we work around opening hours. In schools, we do the bulk of the work during the holidays.
Old fittings and lamps, including fluorescent tubes, are removed and disposed of correctly under the waste regulations that apply to them.
Lower maintenance as well as lower energy use
LED fittings last far longer than the lamps they replace, which means fewer lamp changes, fewer access towers and fewer disruptions to staff. For high ceilings in warehouses and atriums, that difference adds up quickly. For larger industrial spaces, see industrial lighting.
Why choose ICE Electrical for an LED upgrade?
- Lighting designed to recommended light levels for each area, not a like-for-like guess
- Controls specified to cut wasted hours, from presence detection to DALI
- Emergency lighting reviewed and upgraded as part of the same project
- Work phased around your trading hours or term dates
- NICEIC-approved installation, tested and certified to BS 7671
