Data Cabling Installation
Wi-Fi gets the attention, but the network still depends on the cables in the walls and ceilings. Poorly installed or untested cabling causes slow connections, dropped calls and faults that take the IT team hours to trace.
A network built on solid cabling
ICE Electrical designs and installs structured data cabling for offices, retail units, schools and commercial buildings across London and the South East. Every link is tested, labelled and documented, so you know exactly what's installed and that it performs as it should.

Our data cabling treatment process
Step 1 Contact
Book a site survey or call 03335775805. Tell us how many users and devices you need to connect, and share any plans from your IT team.
Step 2 The Quote
We survey cable routes, cabinet locations and containment, then send a fixed price covering the cabling, outlets, cabinets, termination and testing.
Step 3 The Works
Engineers install containment, cables and outlets, terminate patch panels and dress cabinets neatly, working out of hours wherever the network must stay live.
Step 4 After care
Every link is tested with a certification tester, labelled to a consistent scheme and recorded in a schedule handed over with the test results.

Structured cabling we install
- Cat6 and Cat6a copper cabling to desks, meeting rooms, wireless access points, CCTV cameras and door entry panels
- Fibre optic backbones between floors, buildings and comms rooms
- Comms cabinets and racks, including patch panels, cable management and power
- Floor boxes, desk outlets and wall outlets to suit the layout
- Containment, including tray, basket and trunking, sized for future additions
- Moves, adds and changes in existing networks, including tidying and re-patching cabinets
Cat6 or Cat6a?
Both are widely used in commercial buildings. Cat6 suits most office networks and is often the more economical choice. Cat6a supports higher speeds over the full 90-metre permanent link and copes better with interference, which makes it the usual choice for wireless access points, busy networks and buildings expected to stay in use for many years.
We'll recommend the right category for your building, your IT plans and the equipment your network needs to support, and explain why.
Power and data, installed together
Because we're electrical contractors as well as cabling installers, we can run power and data at the same time. That saves you coordinating two trades, avoids routes being installed twice, and makes sure data cables are kept at the right separation from power cables. It's particularly useful during commercial fit-outs, when ceilings and floors are open anyway.
Tested, labelled and documented
Every installed link is tested with a certification tester and the results are recorded. Each outlet and patch panel port is labelled to a consistent scheme, and you'll receive a schedule showing what goes where. When the IT team needs to trace a connection in future, it takes seconds rather than an afternoon on a ladder.
Tidying up existing networks
Many comms cabinets have grown over years into a tangle of patch leads that no one dares touch. We can audit an existing network, test the links, remove redundant cabling, re-patch and label everything, and leave you with an accurate record. It's often the cheapest way to improve reliability without replacing the whole network.
Cabling for security and building systems
Data cabling now carries more than computers. CCTV cameras, access control readers and door entry panels increasingly run over the same network. We install and coordinate cabling for all of them. See CCTV installation and access control systems.
Why choose ICE Electrical for data cabling?
- Cat6, Cat6a and fibre installed by engineers who also understand the power side
- Every link tested with a certification tester, with results recorded
- Consistent labelling and a full schedule of outlets and ports at handover
- Work carried out out of hours or in phases to keep your network running
- One contractor for power, data and containment on the same project
